Advertisers and Users Flock to Reddit At Digg’s Expense
After users expressed their disappointment in the recent redesign of social bookmarking site Digg, it seems many of them made the social site’s rival, Reddit, their new home.

VentureBeat reports that angered consumers abandoned the updated Digg in mass for Reddit. According to website traffic measurement firm Alexa, the two sites now serve approximately the same number of page views. Additionally, though Digg reaches more web users overall, many are hit-and-run visitors who leave the site after viewing only one page.
Meanwhile, advertisers are also buying more inventory on Reddit, with the social site’s community manager, Erik Martin, confirming ad sales are up 30 percent. “We’re excited about all these new people coming in, many of whom have their own businesses or products,” Martin told VentureBeat. “People are coming around to the fact that Reddit can serve bigger brands too.”
With the number of visitors to social bookmarking sites and social networks growing, many advertisers are increasingly adopting them into their internet marketing campaigns. A recent survey conducted by King Fish Media, HubSpot and Junta42 indicates 72 percent of businesses have social media campaigns, relays eMarketer.
