Team RHINO Attends Ernst & Young 2011 Entrepreneur of the Year Awards

Chief and Mrs. Rhino with Tammey George of RepliCel.com

Congratulations to the 2011 Pacific Region Entrepreneur of the Year, Robert Little, CEO of FPI Fireplace Products International, and all of the other nominees, runners-up and category winners of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards!

Top honours were handed out at a fantastic gala on October 5th at Vancouver’s Convention Centre and Team RHINO was there. Our own Chief Rhino, Doug Morneau, was nominated as a finalist in the Business-to-Business Products and Services category, and we were thrilled to part of the red carpet celebration to cheer him on.

The evening began with an elegant cocktail reception where we had a chance to mingle with the other nominees and their supporters, and connect with event sponsors and an ensemble of business leaders from around the province.

As we moved into the main hall for an absolutely fabulous sit down dinner, I was taken aback by the size of the crowd of over 1,300 strong. Sophie Lui of Global BC’s morning news did a superb job as emcee and may have given last year’s host, Chris Gailus, a run for his money!

Chief Rhino Nominated for Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award!

You’ll hear him boasting about the RHINO.ca team, one of our great clients, or his kids. But not about himself. He’s not shy, but he isn’t one to sing his own praises either.

So we’ll do the bragging for him – just this once.

Our own Chief Rhino, Doug Morneau, has been named as a Pacific finalist in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, and we’re pretty excited! Doug is among 31 successful entrepreneurs, nominated in nine categories, who will be honoured at the awards banquet in early October.

He’s been nominated along side two other successful entrepreneurs – Darby Kreitz of Allnorth Consultants Limited, and Ross Waters of C.G. Industrial Specialties Ltd. – in the Business-to-Business Products and Services category.

Partnerships – Thinking Out Of The Box

At Rhino, we always think out of the box. Doing what has always been done just isn’t our style. And using a template or canned approach to our client campaigns – that’s just not going to happen. You can’t achieve the results we achieve for clients without seeing the world with fresh eyes and an out of the box mindset.

Success Is In The Set Up

When the Vancouver Canucks are on a power play, you will see them set up in the opposition’s end. The players pass the puck around until they get their players in the right positions and get the other team’s players out of position. Then they shoot and go for the goal.

A lot of the fans yell: “SHOOT!” before the shot is set up. They don’t understand that the Canucks are trying to set up the best opportunity for success.

When Rhino develops an online marketing strategy, we approach it in the same way. It isn’t just about putting players on the ice and shooting, it’s about understanding what our client wants to achieve, what they need (which sometimes needs to be further identified) and finding the right way to get there. It’s about developing a strategy and then choosing the right tactics, tools and technology.
